Americans control over Philippines
How American gained Control: America gained control of the Philippines during the Spanish American war in 1898. After Spain's defeat, the ceded the colony of the Philippines to the U.S in the Treaty of Paris. About 2 days after the ratification of the treaty, mayhem broke out between Americans and Filipino nationalists led by Emolio Aquinaldo. The Philippines gained there control when representatives from the US and the Republic of the Philippines signed the treaty general relations. This put a end to the US control over the Philippine islands.
The Haiyan typhoon; This Typhoon was a catastrophe, almost causing permanent to the Philippines. The president declared the destruction a national calamity.About 6 months after, the US Red cross donated $56.8 million. They also had deployed 46 disaster specialists to help with sheltering. The money helped send cash grants to 59,000 families effected. The red cross is now helping families rebuild homes to hope have a national reconstruction.
